We, Jenna and Izaak (Jizaak? Jenzaak??), are a bit embarrassed to admit that we met on Tinder.

However, not long after our first date, we realized that our respective worlds were bound to collide: Jenna had hosted some of Izaak’s closest friends several years prior to their meeting, when she lived in Pittsburgh; Izaak had met Jenna’s sister’s cat around the same time while he lived in Minneapolis. We shared similar upbringings, worldviews, and tastes in music, and we even lived in the same neighborhood at the time we met. So, the dating app really just sped up the inevitable. After many delays, owed to our respective convoluted love lives, we finally met in person on the second day of National Negroni Week: June 25th, 2019, riding scooters around Ukranian Village.

Not long after, we began the process which came to be known to us as vining. Initially a misspelling of “vibing,” vining is our

way of describing our intertwining—growing as people at the same time as growing closer as a couple. Our vines support one another, allowing for us to become better human beings, while gradually intermingling our lives.

Fast forward five years to 2024, we’ve been living peacefully in Iowa City for a little over two years, in a small historic home rented to us by Izaak’s parents, and Archie is cat king of Goosetown. Our intertwining vines are blossoming, and we’ve never been more sure that it’s time to take the next big step. Before we lay down roots, we want to celebrate what we’ve accomplished with you.

LOCATION

In order to have the most chill time ever we rented the greenspace at Flatblack Studios.

Getting there

Flatblack is located about 20 minutes southeast of Iowa City in a small rural community called Lone Tree. Accessibility is limited to vehicle transportation. If you are camping you can park overnight.

“LODGING”

There is ample space for tent camping on the property so the party can really go all night long :-)

Please arrive between 2pm and 4pm if you are planning to set up camp.

We will have some tents available but they are first come first serve. Please, if you can, BYO tent and sleeping accoutrements!

DRESS CODE

This is a semi-formal ethereal outdoor soiree. Think Renaissance faire meets Jodorowsky’s The Holy Mountain and toss in some Pre-Raphaelites and Arthurian legend. Every part of the event will be outdoors (with the exception of tent and tree cover), so plan your wardrobe accordingly! (Probably no stilettos nor pumps in this club.)

RAIN CONTINGENCY PLAN

Barring a literal tsunami, the show must go on rain or shine!!! We will have event tents on deck just in case.
